1. Make sure the disposal is turned off and free of large food scraps.
2. Run a strong stream of hot water (70°C) for 1 minute, then reduce to a trickle.
3. With the disposal still off, drop 1 tablet into the disposal.
4. Turn on the disposal and let it run for 15–40 seconds to activate the foaming action.
5. Allow the foam to rise and disappear (about 1–2 minutes), then rinse away any remaining foam and turn off the disposal.

The garbage disposal tablets did not effervesce as advertised. I had to run hot water over them (as instructed for 10-20 secs) for much longer but the tablets stop melting when the water is turned off. They were only melting not effervescing. In the ad they foam up but certainly did not do this for me. You should be talking to the manufacturer.
